DC3: Kinematics analysis and optimisation of cycloid drives

Mohamed Elgamal holds a combined background in mechanical and mechatronics engineering. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering at Nile University with a graduation topic “Automatically controlled prophylactic ankle bracing”.
He completed his Master’s degree in Italy, graduating with distinction (108/110), further developing his expertise at the intersection of mechanical design, dynamics, and simulation. where he also contributed to the university’s Formula Student (FSAE) team, working on the design and structural optimisation of a carbon fibre monocoque chassis
After graduation, he started his research experience, which includes work on the EUROfusion project, where he carried out high-fidelity thermomechanical simulation and structural optimisation using ANSYS MAPDL and MATLAB-based finite element workflows. This work strengthened his skills in finite element modelling, multiphysics simulation, and computational optimisation applied to complex mechanical systems.
